A friend linked me this today and I really appreciate the sensory talk in it, I ended up using touch and hearing in similar ways a lot in day to day movement because it's often lower effort to having to look at things and deal with light sources.
I've noticed it's possible to often tell what sort material places are made out by the echos they make, and sound traveling around a corridor is noticeably different to that in a hallway that has rooms on it. Especially if there is any sort of air conditioning going.
